The Olympic Sword

The weapons are adapted from swords used throughout History each has a different shape and target areas. The foil, the modern version of the court sword touches are scored with the tip of the blade and must land on the torso of the body to be counted. The Epee the descendant of weapons used in duels, has the entire body, from the tip of the toes to the top of the head is valid target. The saber is similar to the slashing and thrusting cavalry sword. All cuts or thrusts must land from the bend of the hips up like a cavalry soldier mounted on a horse.

We Provide All Equipment Needed for the Class.

Our basic instructor curriculum provides a fun level introduction to the sport. Fencing is more than a sport and recreation.  Fencing has a language of its own, and fellowship. Fitness, confidence, positive body awareness, concentration and friendships are all by-products of fencing. This positive message comes through when you take part in our Fencing classes. minimal rules and lots of play. The introduction stresses basic motor skills in a fun environment.

We invite all our Fencing Families to participate in our Kids Fencing Team, High School Fencing Team, and Adult Competitions. Moms and Dads are encouraged to participate along side their children. Classes and Games are designed to teach the proper use of our Olympic Weapons.

All Levels are Invited to Fence in our Classes.

Students who have taken the class more than once are encouraged to keep going.  We teach all levels in our fencing classes.  J
Leg work is still same but fencing skills advance depending on your level, weapon and fencer. We want our fencers in our beginning class to learn at a comfortable pace being able to fence with others of their own levels. The emphasis is on a fun, active learning environment while students are introduced to the fundamentals of safe swordplay and fencing. Fencing equipment is provided and this class may be taken over again until the fencer is comfortable with the basic weapons.
